Journeycollector's Brigitte Damstra went on a city trip to Barcelona and enjoyed all the good stuff in the upcoming area El Born.
"Barcelona is a wonderful city, one of my favorite destinations for a weekend or a holiday, with my lover or (like this time) with three of my best friends. It's the great combination of the beach, shopping, culture and good places to eat. This time I stayed in the area of El Born, El Born is sandwiched between Via Laietana and Barceloneta and is served by the metro stops Barceloneta and Jaume 1 which are on the same line. Las Ramblas and the very centre of the city & the beach are a pleasant 10 minute walk away."
"We stayed at a simple apartment around the corner of the gothic church of Santa Maria del Mar, so no alarm clock needed ;).."
Some tips where to enjoy good food and/or drinks:
Elsa Y Fred, definitely go here!! Thinking of it, makes my mouth water. Besides the great hosts the food is amazing, don't forget to try the Salmon Sashimi and for desert the Apple Crumble is the best you've ever had..
PICNIC, great brunch menu for only 12 euros, from eggs to grilled salmon.
Obe, beautiful restaurant with good food.
Super Super, lovely bar where they serve a whole lot of different tonics and good tapas, best spot to hang out and crap some vermout as they call tapas.
Saboc, at Saboc they have a menu based on four types of cooking: raw, low temperature, with stoves and griddles. So you can order per temperature, a true experience.
